Repairs and Improvements
Here are a bunch of repairs and improvements I've done that others may find interesting.
- 3d Print
- The folding board had a lock that rarely fitted in the slot. I milled the hole a bit
wider and designed a new piece I had 3d printed in plastic.
No, you don't even have to purchase your own 3d printer!

- Splicing of Double Braided Rope
- Splicing of double braided rope seemed like a mystery to me. But after looking at a
few youtube videos, I realized it is actually pretty easy!

- VDO Display Replacement
- I replaced the faulty LCD display with an OLED display, and the lamp with a high-bright
LED. The signals needs to be converted from the format the LCD controller used to something
the OLED controller understands, which is done by a cheap Arduino Nano. Together it costs
less than 10 EUR on ebay, including shipping.
My Arduino source is available for download, if you want to fix yours too.
