3d Print
No, you don't even have to purchase your own 3d printer!
3d plastic printers are giving a lot of new possibilities for repairing and
improving on a sailboat. It is surprisingly easy:
1. Download the open source FreeCAD program,
2. design your object,
3. upload your design to 3dhubs com, and
4. select a local providor to print your job.
Edit October 2018: 3dhubs com seems to have changed their business model,
and thus essentially shut down their business in the process: Before hundreds
of thousands private 3d printer owners were listed, now only a few expensive
corporate hubs are listed. Thus they no longer deserve a link from here.
At the moment I'm still looking into what else to do, as I'm not too eager to buy
my own printer (they're improving too fast, and I print too little for it to be
worth the cost). This seems to be a posibility, although most hubs seems to be
from Poland: printelize.com I have not yet
used them so I cannot say if they're good or not.

The below was designed and ordered in a couple of hours on a rainy Sunday,
printed Monday, and received in the mail Tuesday for the price of about 10 EUR.
What a deal for something that would have been utterly impossible just 2 years
ago!
These first two pictures show that the lock does not fit into the hole.

I did a CAD drawing using the open source
FreeCAD program. The tutorials could do with some additional work,
but the program seems to be pretty decent. The original is shown to the right.

The hole was milled a bit wider.

The final result. Everything now fits perfectly!
